RULES AND POLICIES

1.       Grave plots are $350 each.  Green Burial plots are $700 each. Must be paid in advance before burial.  Each plot may contain up to 1 casket and 1 cremation, or 2 cremations.  Plots are to be sold by approval of at least 2 board members.  FCA governs availability/location.  Plots reserved for those who have been full-time Fraser Valley Residents for at least five years.  Those who have made contributions to the community will be considered.  Veterans are allowed 1 plot each at no cost, a copy of discharge papers mandatory.  Special circumstances will be considered.

NO SALE OR TRANSFER OF GRAVE SITES WITHOUT APPROVAL OF FCA BOARD.  IF NOT APPROVED FCA WILL BUY BACK AT ORIGINAL PURCHASE PRICE. 

2.       All grave and cremation site opening/closing to be done by FCA approved contractors. Tree removal and/or snow removal charges should be expected.  Family can choose to dig own cremation site.  MUST HAVE PRIOR APPROVAL & LOCATION IDENTIFIED BY 2 FCA BOARD MEMBERS AND MUST HAVE AT LEAST 1 MEMBER ON SITE WHEN SITE IS EXCAVATED.  Special circumstances will be considered.

The Fraser Cemetery Association does not have equipment for lowering caskets 

3.       A three-day minimum notice when any interment is needed, except for Green Burials.  Special circumstances will be considered.

4.       Copy of certificate of final disposition or copy of death certificate mandatory. 

5.       Grave sites are 6’ by 10’.  There must be 24” between graves.  Vaults may be used if family desires, except in Green Burials, but not mandatory.

CASKET BURIALS:   Special circumstances regarding religious beliefs and/or rituals will be considered.  Must be backfilled with crushed gravel and covered with a layer of topsoil.

CREMATIONS: ALL ASHES MUST BE BURIED.  Ashes to be buried directly under or 12” out  from marker.  Ashes must be at least 30” deep with a 12” minimum space between urns, if more than one, or between next burial.   Must be backfilled with crushed gravel or concrete and covered with a layer of topsoil. 

GREEN BURIALS: Only unembalmed bodies can be buried.  Shrouds or containers must be of non-toxic material and readily biodegradable.   No jewelry or adornments.  Burials must be 4 feet deep, loosely backfilled, with no compaction of soil, with a layer of topsoil. Green burial sites are allowed benches of a natural material (ie. Stone or wood) and flat headstones. Up to 2 cremations are allowed in a green burial site but must be buried ashes only or a biodegradable urn if one is used. Urns are to be buried 24” deep if there is one burial and one urn in a plot. Green burials will also be allowed in currently owned family sections with an additional fee of $350 paid to the Fraser Cemetery Association.

Green burial section to maintain a natural appearance with natural flowers only.  No plastic flowers. 

All Burials

               Excavated material to be hauled away. 

               Grave sites must be cleaned up and trash hauled away after each service.

Settling of grave/cremation sites will be the contractor’s responsibility for two months.  Any settlement will be filled with topsoil. 

6.       Graves must be maintained by family members or friends of family.  Maintenance of graves NOT the responsibility of FCA. 

7.       MARKERS: Grave markers are mandatory, flat markers for Green Burials.  A deposit of $300 will be required before burial.  This will be refunded upon placement of permanent marker.  If, at the end of a year, there is no permanent marker installed or ordered, the FCA will purchase one. Temporary markers must be placed immediately after burial.  Permanent markers must be placed within 1 year.  SITE AND INSTALLATION OF PERMANENT MARKERS MUST BE APPROVED BY FCA BOARD.  AN FCA BOARD MEMBER MUST BE ON SITE AT TIME OF INSTALLATION OF MARKERS.  If 2 burials in 1 plot, 1 footstone will be allowed, flat marker preferred.  Special circumstances will be considered.

8.       SITE ADDITIONS: Site additions such as fencing, markings, benches, etc. must be approved by FCA board before installation   No plastic will be allowed.  Fences will be no more than 36" high.  All   posts will be capped.  Any chain used will be 1".  Nothing galvanized.  These site additions must be maintained in good condition This is not the responsibility of FCA.  If not maintained FCA reserves the right to remove.  No carpets, mats or synthetic grass allowed after January 10, 2003. THESE WILL BE REMOVED BY FCA.  Special circumstances will be considered.
